Leawood, Kan. – January 4, 2019 –Rouse Frets White Goss Gentile Rhodes participated in a successful toy drive for Shadow Buddies Foundation, coordinated in part by attorney Sandra Watts. The toy drive helped provide a fun holiday experience for all those involved with Shadow Buddies, an organization that works with severely ill or disabled children and their families.

The toy drive provided over 150 children and their families a Christmas experience like no other. The families each received a boarding pass to the North Pole and were able to listen to a Christmas choir while playing with super heroes, Star Wars characters and service animals. Then the children and parents went on a 45-minute flight around Kansas City. Once they landed, they were welcomed into a winter wonderland, complete with games, Christmas stories, cookies and a visit with Santa. Each child and their siblings received a bag of donated Christmas gifts and a personalized Shadow Buddies doll.

Shadow Buddies Foundation was created in 1995 to provide compassion and emotional support for children with extreme illnesses and disabilities through condition-specific dolls. Each doll is carefully researched to represent a child’s medical or emotional condition, and offers the companionship of a friend that is “just like them.” Shadow Buddies has also developed many other programs and activities to provide emotional support and compassion to these children and their families.

Taking an active role in this toy drive was Sandra Watts, a real estate lawyer at Rouse Frets White Goss Gentile Rhodes. Sandra has over 20 years of experience in commercial real estate law, representing both local and national developers in a variety of commercial development matters, including financing, acquisition, and lease negotiations. Sandra structures deals involving retail shopping center, multi-family, condominium, and mixed-use projects, both in the Kansas City metropolitan area and across the Midwest. Sandra also represents various banks and lending institutions in connection with real estate loans on a local and regional basis.

“On behalf of the Shadow Buddies Foundation, I wanted to thank those who participated in the 2018 toy drive. Through your kindness and generosity, we were able to give many children and their families a magical day,” said Watts.
