Kansas City, Mo. – December 9, 2024: Bill Moore, a shareholder with Rouse Frets White Goss Gentile Rhodes, P.C., recently helped Englewood Arts in Independence receive city approval to create an overlay zoning district that will advance the city’s long sought after goal of revitalizing the Englewood community. Under the overlay zoning homeowners will be allowed to construct additional living structures on their property, thereby creating more accessible housing for the community.
The Englewood Arts District Overlay District covers about 4,000 residential properties and allows for the construction of Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) and cottage-cluster development. Without the overlay district, only one residence would be allowed on each lot.
This approval is part of a larger undertaking within Independence to renovate the Englewood area of Independence. Rouse Frets represents Englewood Arts, an arts incubator and anchor of the local business district, as well as the Englewood Community Improvement District (CID).
