Leawood, Kan. – July 28, 2025: Randall L. Rhodes and Rachel N. Boden, litigation attorneys with Rouse Frets White Goss Gentile Rhodes, P.C., recently convinced the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) to recall dangerous and faulty mini refrigerators because of fire and burn hazards. Their work in this matter illustrates how the law firm’s advocacy for clients who have been injured or have suffered monetary damages makes consumer products safer, in addition to securing compensation for those harmed.
Randy and Rachel represented clients whose minifridge caught fire in their home, causing hundreds of thousands of dollars of damage. These minifridges were made by a Chinese manufacturer under different brands, including AstroAI, and sold on Amazon, which received dozens of complaints on its website regarding a switch on the back of the products that melts and starts fires. During discovery, Randy and Rachel found more complaints in documents pertaining to product returns.
Randy and Rachel filed suit against Amazon in federal court in Kansas and obtained a favorable settlement for their clients. Randy and Rachel also coordinated and shared their information about the faulty switch with the CPSC, which in June required AstroAI to recall nearly a quarter of a million of the minifridges.
