Chris Mattix, Greg Musil, Kevin Mason Help Client Defend Property Tax Appeal

Kansas City, Mo. – December 12, 2025: Chris Mattix, Greg Musil, and Kevin Mason, attorneys with Rouse Frets White Goss Gentile Rhodes, P.C., recently helped their client, a well-known convenience store and gas station chain, successfully defend a property tax appeal before Missouri’s Western District Court of Appeals.  The case was briefed by Kevin and Chris and argued by Chris on November 5, 2025.

The primary issue was whether a certain deed restriction limiting future use of the property could be assessed as real property under Missouri law, and if so, whether the deed restriction had any value. The firm has received favorable results on behalf of its client throughout every step of the administrative and judicial appeals process. 

About Chris Mattix: Chris uses his unique background as a lawyer who holds accounting and finance degrees and worked as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) to assist clients obtain economic development incentives such as tax abatements, TIF, and tax credits in Missouri and Kansas.
