Rouse Frets White Goss and Attorneys Ryan R. Cook, Darren Neil Honored by Overland Park Historical Society

Leawood, Kan. – September 16, 2024: Ryan R. Cook and Darren Neil, attorneys with Rouse Frets White Goss Gentile Rhodes, P.C., recently completed two pro bono projects for the Overland Park Historical Society that resulted in the firm receiving an honor from the society.

The first project, led by Ryan and assisted by paralegal Rachelle Biondo, involved the review and creation of cross-access easements that will allow OPHS to renovate the historic Strang Line Railroad Depot into its new home. The Strang Depot, constructed in 1906 by William B. Strang, Jr., was the first commercial building in Overland Park, which through Strang’s vision grew from a farming community at the turn of the 20th Century into the second-largest city in Kansas.

Darren led the second project, assisting in the preparation and review of a real estate contract involving the sale of the historic Strang Line Railroad Car Barn, which was saved from demolition by OPHS in 1994 and converted into commercial space. The barn housed trolley cars that ran along the Strang Line Railroad from Kansas City to Olathe during 1906-1940.

Because of these efforts, Rouse Frets was named a “Strang Level” Friend of OPHS, which is the society’s highest level of recognition for its contributors. Rouse Frets is proud to donate attorney time to support efforts like these to preserve our communities.
