Douthit Frets Rouse Gentile & Rhodes will now be known as Rouse Frets Gentile Rhodes, the firm announced today.
The law firm’s name change follows a period of significant growth for the firm, which prompted a new look at its identity, said Chuck Rouse, managing member.
“One of our core values is approachability; as a group, we are down-to-earth and responsive. We wanted our communications to reflect that,” Rouse said. “We take pride in being a simple choice for clients and lateral attorneys, and a simpler name makes sense.”
Attorney Growth
Rouse Frets began in 1995 with five attorneys. Today, it employs 39 attorneys – an increase of 116 percent over the past five years, and a headcount that would place it among the 10 to 12 largest firms in Kansas City.
The firm works with another nine attorneys through affiliate arrangements, including five attorneys with the former Dunn & Davison, LLC firm, now operating in St. Joseph, Mo. as Rouse Frets & Davison.
Rouse said the firm has aggressively pursued lateral attorneys to help it deliver its four-pronged mission: deploying experienced lawyers providing counsel in various subject areas; providing highly focused national industry teams addressing specific industry needs; developing business lawyers serving companies and entrepreneurs in Kansas and Missouri; and offering outstanding catastrophic loss, business and other litigation teams addressing a range of disputes and cases.
Attorneys come to Rouse Frets for the culture and rate flexibility, Rouse said. The platform has attracted lateral partners, of counsel and associates from across the metropolitan area, including attorneys ranked for excellence by Chambers USA and The Best Lawyers in America.
Location Growth
Rouse Frets also added a location in downtown Kansas City: The firm’s second office is on the 29th floor of the Town Pavilion, 1100 Walnut St.
