Legacy Truman, LLC , a client of Rouse Frets, received a 2017 Capstone Award for Community Impact for its Truman’s Marketplace project.
Truman’s Marketplace is a $350 million retail project located on 72 acres at Blue Ridge Boulevard and Interstate 49 in Grandview, Mo. – the former site of the family farm where Harry Truman grew up. It originally opened as Truman Corners in 1958; by 2015, occupancy had fallen to 40 percent. Legacy Development, the new owners, engaged in a renovation and reconstruction effort that attracted national retail and restaurant leaders, including Petco, Shoe Carnival, Starbucks and T.J. Maxx.
Sean Ervin of the firm’s Real Estate practice served as lead attorney for the redevelopment, which celebrated a grand opening in September 2016.
Presented by the Kansas City Business Journal, the Capstone Awards recognize the metropolitan area’s outstanding real estate and development projects, as determined by a panel of outside judges. More information on the program is available here.
