Kansas City, Mo. – September 24, 2024: Mark Coulter, an attorney with Rouse Frets White Goss Gentile Rhodes, P.C., recently helped the Jefferson County (Missouri) Port Authority complete a transformative, $20 million acquisition of a shipping terminal on the Mississippi River.
The Jefferson County Port Authority has been working to establish its own marine facility since its founding in 1976. After the Port Authority recently secured a significant state appropriation, Mark and the law firm assisted the Port Authority in the negotiation and acquisition of the proposed port property and an ongoing commercial concern. The complicated transaction included an operating agreement that would allow the Port Authority to become the first municipally-owned port terminal facility in Jefferson County. With ownership and an operating agreement for the shipping terminal secured, the Port Authority will now focus on redevelopment of the surrounding 300-acre site.
“If it were not for the critical advice and assistance from Mark and his team of consummate, experienced professionals, this project would never have become a reality,” said Jim McNichols, Executive Director for the Jefferson County Port Authority.
In addition to Mark’s leadership, Rouse Frets attorneys Ryan R. Cook (real estate), Megan Banks (asset purchasing), and Gene Schmittgens (environmental impact) played important roles, showcasing the firm’s broad expertise in solving complex problems.
