Experience

Brian is an experienced and dedicated litigator in the firm’s business litigation practice. For more than 25 years, Brian has focused his practice on representing both plaintiffs and defendants in civil litigation matters in state and federal courts throughout Kansas, Missouri, and the country. He has represented clients in a wide spectrum of practice areas, from routine business disputes and civil litigation matters to complex damages cases. Brian has tried numerous jury trials, bench trials and arbitrations, handling all aspects of cases from initial investigation to appeal.

In addition, Brian has substantial experience handling insurance-related matters, having acted as an insurance defense and coverage attorney for more than 20 years. He also serves as general counsel for numerous small to midsize companies and businesses operating in the Greater Kansas City Metropolitan area.

Representative Experience

• Successfully defended title company in real estate interest dispute claim valued in excess of $2 million.
• Successfully defended contract foster care agency in 42 U.S.C. §1983 claim for constitutional rights violations relating to care and custody of biological grandchildren.
• Achieved dismissal of race, gender and retaliatory discharge employment discrimination claim on behalf of employer.
• Received defense verdict in favor of private security company and favorable verdict in defense of off-duty police officer acting as private security guard in assault, battery and malicious prosecution case.
• Achieved dismissal of lawsuit against Kansas Department of Credit Unions based on immunity and subject matter jurisdiction grounds.
• Successfully defended insurance company in uninsured motorist benefits claim arising from wrongful death involving horse-drawn buggy.
