Experience
Katy is a litigation attorney who focuses on employment and workplace law. Her clients are both large and small employers, including private companies, government agencies and schools, including institutions of secondary and higher education. Katy enjoys the challenge of gathering, verifying, and sorting through layers, including conducting workplace investigations, in order to determine the best path forward for her clients. Having represented plaintiffs and defendants in employment matters for over 10 years, Katy’s experience gives her valuable insight into employment compliance and dispute resolution strategies for companies regarding discrimination, harassment, wage and hour, disability, workers’ compensation, unemployment, and other workplace issues.
With over 40 jury trials to her credit, Katy is a seasoned litigator in state, federal and appellate courts. Prior to private practice, she started her career as an attorney for the Texas Workforce Commission and then served as a criminal prosecutor focusing on special victims crimes in Missouri and Texas. Katy’s experience also extends to representing clients in mediation and in front of administrative agencies such as the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Missouri Human Rights Commission, and the Kansas Human Rights Commission.
